Local Plan Approved

The California Workforce Development Board (CWDB) has approved work2future's 2017-2020 Local Plan. The approval was announced today in a letter from Tim Rainey, executive director of the state workforce board, which oversees all local workforce development boards in California, including work2future.

The work2future Board submitted the Local Plan as a draft for approval on March 15, 2017. The Plan addresses operational approaches that work2future will take to support workforce and employer success in the San Jose Silicon Valley Local Workforce Development Area, which includes the cities of Campbell, Gilroy, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Morgan HIll, San Jose and Saratoga, and unincorporated communities in Santa Clara County.

The Plan, which maps local priorities through 2020, places an emphasis on enhancing existing partnerships and developing new ones to support strategic engagement in five key sectors: Advanced Manufacturing, Construction, Finance, Health Care and Information & Communications Technology (ICT).

It aligns with and supports the Bay-Peninsula Regional Plan, which was developed jointly by the four local workforce boards that comprise the CWDB-designated region: the San Francisco workforce board, the NOVA workforce board, the work2future workforce board and the San Benito County workforce board. CWDB approval of the regional plan is pending.
