5-Year Plan

Notice for Public Comment - May 17, 2013
The 5-Year Strategic Local Plan for Program Years 2013-2017 (“the 5-Year Plan”) for the San José Silicon Valley Workforce Investment Board (work2future) is available for your review and comment.  A finalized version of the 5-Year Plan is due to the State of California no later than July 1, 2013.

The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) requires that the Local Workforce Investment Board (work2future) submit a Strategic Local Workforce Plan that reflects the vision, strategy, and goals of the California Strategic Workforce Development Plan:  2013-2017.  

The 5-Year Plan is a comprehensive document that describes work2future’s vision for preparing Silicon Valley job seekers for employment in growing and in-demand competitive and emerging regional industries.  The 5-Year Plan identifies priority industry sectors in work2future’s Local Workforce Investment Area (LWIA) that provide high-growth and high-demand occupational opportunities.   In addition, the 5-Year Plan indicates the key strategies that work2future intends to implement in the arena of Business Services with the intended focus on collaboration with the local business and employer communities to ensure that workforce development activities and initiatives support the need for skilled workers in Silicon Valley.

The San José Silicon Valley Workforce Investment Board (work2future) 5-Year Strategic Local Plan:  Program Years 2013-2017 is available for public review during general business hours (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday) at work2future’s Almaden Winery Community Center, 5730 Chambertin Drive, San José, CA 95118, or on the web at http://www.work2future.biz/images/work2future_5-Year_Strategic_Plan.pdf.  

Comments should be submitted via email to Ric Giardina, Special Projects Manager, at Ric.Giardina@sanjoseca.gov.  Offline written comments should be delivered as follows:

The public comment period commences on May 18, 2013 at 8:00 AM and ends on June 16, 2013 at 5:00 PM.   Comments must be received no later than June 16, 2013 at 5:00 PM and will be submitted to the California State Employment Development Department:  Workforce Services Division with the finalized 5-Year Plan.
