What is a Technology Worker?
A technology worker is someone who works in any
position for a company that is in the technology industry
OR someone who works in a position in any industry that
is involved with information technology.
I have a Bachelors degree from a foreign country,
will San Jose State University recognize my degree?
Individuals who received their Bachelor's Degree (or
equivalent) from outside of the United States would
need to first have their transcripts reviewed for equivalency.
Information on how this can be done will be given at
our informational session.
What is a Dislocated Worker?
A "dislocated worker" is a worker who has been laid-off
from their employer due to no fault of their own. Most
common reasons for a lay-off are that the company is
closing, moving, or downsizing.
My Bachelors degree is in a subject other than Math
or Science, do I qualify for this program?
You will need to demonstrate subject matter competence
in the relevant subject. This can be accomplished by
completing a course of study approved by the California
Commission on Teacher Credentialing or by taking a state
examination.
How long will this program last?
It's been estimated that the process to get second career
professionals through the program takes an average of
2 years from the time they expressed an initial interest.
When enrolled in school, on an average it takes 3-4
semesters to finish the credentials program in a State
school or 16-20 months in a private school. Selected
clients can start with a credentials program any semester/quarter.?
Will I be paid during the time I am participating
in this program?
When candidates begin their interning with the school
districts, they will be paid by the respective schools.
Can I participate in this program via the Internet?
This program is not being offered on-line.
