Adult Program
The Adult program of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) provides workforce investment activities that increase the employment retention and earnings of participants, and occupational skill attainment by the participants. This program seeks to improve the quality of the workforce, reduce welfare dependency, and enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the nation's economy. The Act specifies that most services for adults will be provided through One-Stop Centers.
Services and Resources for Displaced (Laid Off) Workers
In today's world there is no such thing as a "permanent" job. Companies are continually downsizing, merging, reorganizing and transforming. Unfortunately this means worker dislocation and disruption to the lives of many in our community.
work2future
plays a major role in helping workers achieve a successful transition to new employment. If you have been terminated or laid-off, have received a notice of termination or layoff, from employment, or have exhausted entitlement to unemployment compensation you may want to use the
work2future
services
provided through any of our three One-Stop Centers.
Unemployment Insurance
The Unemployment Insurance Program, commonly referred to as UI, provides weekly unemployment insurance payments for workers who lose their job through no fault of their own. Eligibility for benefits requires that the claimant be able to work, be seeking work, and be willing to accept a suitable job. Click here for more information.
Services for Businesses
Laid-off workers are a pool of experienced workers, with the skills that your business may be looking for.
work2future
works with employers to provide on-site pre-layoff services to insure a smooth transition for affected workers.
work2future
Dislocated Worker services can help employers meet their business needs while recognizing the needs of their workers. Dislocated Worker assistance can help your company keep productivity high; costs low, and maintain a positive work environment for your employees.
Rapid Response Services for Laid-Off Workers
Rapid Response is a strategy where experienced staff responds to layoffs and plant closings by quickly coordinating services and providing immediate aid to affected companies and their workers.
By inviting the
work2future
Rapid Response Unit to meet with affected workers prior to the layoff will allow your employees to access programs and services, which will help them through that difficult time.
Workers who have received a notice of layoff or termination or are likely to become dislocated and have information and access to adjustment and reemployment services before they are laid-off, tend to have a more positive attitude towards the current employer and production levels are maintained.
Early intervention plays an important role in dislocated worker programs. It can be the key to a workers transition to new employment.
